Trillium Cove Home & Garden

Business is Blooming This Spring at Trillium Cove Home & Garden

You might say that Sara Berry has always been one of those proverbial green-thumb people. As the longtime owner of Pope’s Garden Center, Berry watched her nursery business blossom and grow for more than 25 years.

Now, eight years after selling the venture, Berry has once again found herself surrounded by nature’s beauty with her new business, Trillium Cove Home & Garden. Located in the Trillium Cove Shopping Village in Townsend, the shop is taking Berry back to her roots with its inventory of plants and flowers for the home. But they grow beyond pure greenery, offering a wide assortment of décor, accessories, and gift items, all with nature as their theme. Berry describes her merchandise as “treasures to awaken your home, your garden, and your spirits,” whether their ultimate purpose is decorative, utilitarian or to share with friends and loved ones.

Visitors are greeted by a cornucopia of natural greenery, from the themed outdoor garden areas to the walkways and adjacent garden shed. Merchandise includes bedding plants and flowers, indoor and outdoor baskets, plantings for the yard and garden, and materials like mulches and fertilizers to help keep everything in the green. Complementing the displays of nature’s handiwork is a fanciful array of decorative items that are ideal for gardens and patios. Unique birdhouses, furniture, wind chimes, and statuary are some examples of how to add creative flair to your green spaces.

The selection continues inside with eclectic accessories and gift items such as hats and gloves, gardening tools, picture frames, inspirational plaques, candles, and birdcages. Berry hopes her wares will stimulate creative thinking in those looking for a little decorative inspiration.

“We have items that are fun and can appeal to anyone who has an interest in nature or gardening,” she says. “People enjoy just walking through the gardens and shop for inspiration and ideas. We try to keep things fresh and interesting.”

One way the shop plans to stay fresh is by keeping a seasonal inventory, which allows it to stay open all year long.

Since Berry and her husband, John, opened Trillium Cove Home & Garden, she’s noticed a strong response from the local community.

“I’m amazed at the number of repeat customers,” she says. “I think we’re definitely filling a niche in this area.”

Berry hopes to appeal to those who live in the Townsend community and surrounding areas as much as the tourist market. She opened her shop as a meeting place for area groups like women’s clubs and garden clubs.

“I’d like to eventually join with other local businesses in setting up programs for groups that would like to visit Townsend,” she says.

In addition to Trillium Cove Home & Garden, the Trillium Cove Shopping Village is home to several other shops offering gifts, antiques, and custom-made jewelry as well as two beauty salons, a barbershop, and a cabin rental/real estate business.
