When Jackie and Brian Campbell decided to renovate their West Knoxville split foyer home, they knew that the kitchen was the first project to tackle. In addition to the standard cabinet and countertop upgrades, the worn tile floors would be replaced by hardwood flooring to blend with the rest of the upstairs hardwoods – then all of it would be refinished to match.
While the couple was very happy with their other kitchen improvements, the hardwood refinishing was not going well – at all. Their current contractor’s hardwood floor “refinishing” was subpar at best. “They were great at everything else they did,” Brian explained. “They just were not capable of doing the floors.” The initial sanding was not smooth, causing uneven staining and streaking. Their excitement over their soon-to-be completed project – and being able to use their kitchen, den, and bedrooms again – was quickly waning.
They contacted a friend who works in the remodeling business to see if he could recommend a reliable flooring company to fix the mess and was told “If you want it done right, call European Fine Hardwood Floors,” so they made an appointment for a consultation. On meeting business owners and operators Valera and Svetlana Tomescu, Jackie remembered, “They were very professional and instilled immediate confidence in their abilities to resolve all the flooring issues.” “The experience was night-and-day from the previous contractor,” said Brian.

The Campbells have been thrilled with the overall experience with European Fine Hardwood Floors. The Tomescus were available quickly, the timetable was wonderful (just a little over a week), and “the dust control was amazing – no dust at all” with the Bona equipment Valera used. All the issues were remedied, and the Campbells now have beautiful, seamless hardwood flooring throughout. Even the stair treads match.
“The final work was beyond our imagination,” recalled Brian. “The quality is a 10 out of 10. We cannot express enough what a pleasure it was to work with them.” Jackie added, “Not only do our floors look sensational, but we enjoyed every minute with the Tomescus. It felt like working with family.”
When asked if they would recommend European Fine Hardwood Floors to their friends, family, and neighbors? Brian claimed, “Absolutely! The preparation and scheduling were incredibly fast. There was no dust, and our hardwoods look better than we ever thought possible. European Fine Hardwood Flooring is truly the best choice for quality work.”
