Her Majesty Boutique

One of the latest and most exciting new business launches to take place in the historic shopping district in Sweetwater, Tennessee, is Her Majesty Boutique, the creation of Ashley Ingram, a 26-year-old entrepreneur and Sweetwater native. If Ashley’s name sounds familiar to you, that’s because she was our former Miss Tennessee United States in 2012 and is the current reigning Ms. Tennessee United States.

Ashley’s dreams of owning her own boutique go back to her high school years and her time at Tennessee Wesleyan University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in business in 2014. Her natural disposition for competition found in the pageants she has competed in, and continues to compete in today, has helped Ashley prepare for the rigors of entrepreneurship and the competition found in the retail business world.

Her dream of small business ownership came to life in 2016 when Her Majesty Boutique was launched as an online boutique and less than a year later as both an online and brick and mortar retail boutique, which is located in one of downtown Sweetwater’s most historic buildings, the Carter Brick Mason Building, at 111 N. Main Street. Her Majesty Boutique can be found on the building’s second floor, Suite D.

Ashley’s goal is to bring affordable mainstream fashion to Main Street in the town she grew up in. Customers genuinely appreciate Ashley’s natural flair for fashion that she has learned firsthand from her years of pageant experience and that allows her to help each of her customers to both look and feel like a queen when they leave her boutique.

Inside the boutique, you will discover a selection of stylish and trendy, yet affordable, apparel lines from designers that Ashley has discovered personally. You will also find ladies’ accessories, including designer-inspired jewelry and handbags, as well as a large selection of gifts for all occasions. Also, be sure to check out the boutique’s newest addition – the cutest and most affordable baby clothing you’re likely to find anywhere.

The Lily Pad Featuring Brighton

By Brenda Bryan

Partnering with a company such as Brighton is no accident… months and sometimes even years of preparation and dedication go into the decision. Each store representing this amazing company is selected based on strict criteria and guidelines, and once this selection has been made, the relationship between the company, the store, and the customer begins!

The symbol for Brighton is a heart, symbolizing the fact that each piece has been lovingly created by a team of artisans who put their hearts into every accessory they create… each one beginning with a hand sketch inspired by travel, art, architecture, and the world around us. For more than 40 years, the family-owned company has been building a heritage of creating beautiful accessories.

During February, please come in and try on any piece of Brighton jewelry and register for a 3-piece heart jewelry collection ($120 value) to be given away February 28th.

Brighton and The Lily Pad both do business with a lot of heart, and we are here to ensure that the products you purchase from us are THE BEST!

Happy New Year and Happy Savings!

January is a great time to reassess your winter wardrobe. There is finally time to go through all of the pieces hanging in your closet that haven’t been worn yet this year and either donate them or take them to your nearest consignment shop. Whichever you choose, you’ve begun the process of updating your own winter wardrobe while selections are still great and on sale!

At The Lily Pad, our sales are huge semi-annual events which take place in January and July. Our winter merchandise is now 25% off, and on Saturday, January 20th, at 10:00 am, every piece that’s left goes to 50% off! We’ve found this method to be quite effective to not only clear out the store, but also to pass tremendous savings on to our customers.

As the winter merchandise goes on sale, our “La Sale Boutique” (the big room in the rear of the store) goes to 70% off! Thus, the clearing out begins as we ready ourselves and the store for a brand new season! Spring fashions have been ordered, new, fresh looks are arriving and the holiday decorations have been put away for another year.

We’ll look forward to seeing so many of our customers and friends during our unbelievable sale days. If you’ve ever spent a day at Filene’s Basement in Boston, The Lily Pad is almost as wild on the first days of our sale! Plan to spend some time with us as you visit with friends and neighbors, every arm loaded with bargains and having the time of our lives! What a fun day during a not-so-fun month… it’s a social event you won’t want to miss!

At The Lily Pad, we reflect on how blessed we have been this year to again be a part of your lives. We truly appreciate the vote of confidence you place in us to be your fashion headquarters! Our most sincere wishes from the entire Lily Pad staff for a happy and healthy 2018!

The Lily Pad

Fashion Fights Back

By Brenda Bryan, Owner of The Lily Pad

When recalling special moments and memories in the life of The Lily Pad, none is more memorable or meaningful than our first annual Fashion Fights Back fashion show last October. On a beautiful sunny October afternoon, 10 of our customers who were either fighting their battle with breast cancer or are breast cancer survivors modeled fall fashions at The Lily Pad. To support and honor our many customers and friends whose lives have been touched by this disease, we have pledged to support them in the way we do best… Fashion Fights Back!

As you know, nearly 250,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year… your mother, sister, daughter, wife, or even you! We have committed to give a portion of every item sold on this day to the American Cancer Society. Last year we raised more than $1,000 to help fund innovative research and provide free information and support programs to patients and caregivers.

On October 19, we will be honoring 10 more of our friends and family members who have witnessed firsthand the dreaded diagnosis of breast cancer. Please plan to join us at The Lily Pad as we again present Fashion Fights Back, a show by women for these women who are such an inspiration to all of us. There is no charge to attend the show, refreshments will be served, and a spring trunk show from Joseph Ribkoff will also be a special part of this incredible day.

We encourage you to RSVP at either 423-337-5537 or lilypadboutique@bellsouth.net since we will have treats for everyone attending! Join us at The Lily Pad as FASHION FIGHTS BACK!

Lily Pad Boutique

Don’t Stress the Number!

The average female shopper has several sizes hanging in her closet… so why are you a size 6 in some brands and a size 10 in others??

Alfredo Cabrera, author of 101 Things I Learned in Fashion School, explains. “Most companies start with a size 8 production pattern which sometimes gets shifted larger or smaller. A high-fashion 8 isn’t typically as large as a mass-market brand’s size 8.”

Even in Europe, where measurements are standardized by law, there can be some variation because a designer may decide to slide a garment’s waistline above or below a woman’s natural waistline.

Our experience has been that European lines, as a rule, are approximately 1-2 sizes smaller than your average fit. This is where an experienced sales clerk can be very beneficial as you shop, many times suggesting that you begin trying on certain lines a size or even two above what you normally wear.

Don’t limit yourself to a certain size… be open to some variation… basing your decisions on style, designer and your individual sales associate’s advice. Remember… we have seen the styles tried on, trying many on ourselves to better advise our customers of the fit.

The very best way to ensure a good fit is to try on several sizes. Remember to trust your personal sales associate and the mirror instead of the digit on the label!

We are here to advise you on the size and fit of your selections; however, for men who are purchasing a gift for Mother’s Day, may we suggest a beautifully designed, boxed and gift wrapped gift certificate! Always a perfect gift!

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Shopping!

Veronica G Boutique

One More Dream

By Gail Edwards, Owner of Veronica G Boutique

After retiring from my career in commercial real estate administration, I did what so many young retirees do, which was pursue my life’s passion of owning my very own women’s clothing boutique. First launched six years ago, my dream evolved from launching a boutique in historic downtown Loudon to Veronica G Boutique in Turkey Creek.

I’ve loved every minute of the experience keeping up with the latest fashion trends, going to market in Atlanta, merchandising, marketing, and a whole host of other responsibilities that require an entrepreneur to wear a great many hats. Until Veronica G Boutique, I never fully appreciated just how exhilarating and challenging owning a small business could be.

While I am grateful for the experience and the success I’ve enjoyed, I think I am most grateful for all of the friends I have met that have supported me and encouraged me as I pursued my dream. But now it’s time for me to pursue one more dream: Retirement. After experiencing a series of health related challenges, I have decided to pursue my new dream of traveling with my husband, Bob, and to take advantage of what we hope will be years of happy retirement memories after many decades of pursuing our respective careers.

As my way of thanking each and every one of you for your past support, we will be offering a storewide sale on almost everything in the boutique. Our last day will be Saturday, March 25th. I hope each of you will plan a visit to Veronica G Boutique, which will provide me with the opportunity to thank each of you personally, as well as to extend to you some great savings on some of the latest in women’s fashions from many of the nation’s top designers.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my husband, Bob, for supporting me. You often hear that a family business can sew disharmony in a relationship. Ours was the opposite experience.

I hope to see you all soon, and thanks for the memories.
