Halloween Tips for Fido

This Halloween put yourself in your pet’s paws. Try to think like your pet would think!

Your pets can not differentiate Halloween from any other day of the year. Jovial, good fun can become a threat to your dog. Halloween guests may be perceived as intruders, making the best natured pets nervous, irritable, unruly, and possibly snapping.

Most dogs are happier in the quiet comfort of their home. On Halloween night, do not leave your dog in the backyard; there have been reports of taunting, feeding, agitating, and even poisoning on Halloween. A nervous dog will bark and howl at the constant foot traffic. Do NOT put your dog in the car or the garage. One half hour prior to trick or treat time, put your dog in a secure, quiet place in your home as far away from the greeting door as possible. Depending on the dog, you may crate him. If your dog greets the guests, keep him on a leash, as pets can become stressed, feel threatened, and may growl, lunge, or run out the door.

Keep candy out of reach, as it is NOT intended for pets. Chocolate can be especially dangerous. Candy wrappers are dangerous and can cause intestinal blockage.

Safety of our four-legged kids is priority number one for all the staff at Ms. C’s Bed & Biscuits, where we provide a safe and secure environment for your dogs. Call to schedule your tour today.
