Become an AAA Solo Traveler
By Karen Casey, AAA Field Manager

Like so many of you, I love the adventures that travel offers. Traveling to explore Alaska’s majestic glaciers, the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower in Paris all leave us with an impression – a sensation – that captures a moment in time that each of us will remember for a lifetime.

Even before I was married, I traveled as a single like so many of you. But I must admit that traveling alone, particularly when most of your fellow travelers are couples, can seem a bit awkward at times, especially during free time when others in your group shop, dine, or explore as couples. Sure, they may extend an invitation to you to join them, but that can leave you feeling a bit out of place.

Knowing first-hand exactly how you feel, I launched a new travel experience called AAA Solo Traveler. Perfect for singles, wives whose husbands hate to travel, moms and daughters, those that have lost a spouse, you name it, Solo Traveler provides you with a sense of inclusion or belonging and safety that couples experience when they travel.

You don’t need to dread those periods of free time that made you feel like a fifth wheel. If you choose to venture out on your own, fantastic. But I also offer exciting alternatives for you to join in on, including shopping, museum tours, or restaurant adventures.

We have two great Solo Traveler tours to announce in 2015 that I just know you’re going to enjoy.

In May, discover the beauty of the Mediterranean on a luxury cruise ship for a seven-day adventure from Rome to Barcelona. With no packing and unpacking, you’ll also enjoy Cinque Terre, Tuscany, the ruins of Carthage, Provence, and the iconic cities of Florence and Milan.

In August, we travel to historic Scotland to experience the Edinburgh Tattoo, a festival held in centuries-old Edinburgh Castle featuring the pomp and ceremony of Scottish military bagpipe bands that have thrilled more than 13 million visitors. Your trip also includes visits to the Scottish Highlands, Sterling Castle, and so much more. I promise you’ll fall in love with the Scottish people.

Sound intriguing? If you’re looking for fun-filled travel adventures that are safe, where you travel with people from your own community and where lasting friendships are forged, then you’re going to love Solo Traveler from AAA. You’ll also love our special pricing that eliminates many of the upcharges that often result from traveling as a single.
